So, "How is business going?" That is one of the questions most frequently asked us. So I interviewed one of our customers who has been in business 29 years! We know that business is changing - this is what Virginia Kaufman, 85 years young, from McPherson, Kansas had to say when asked, What is the secret to staying in business so long? Virginia credits giving customers good service, being honest and being frugal all contribute to still being in business. "You have to watch how you spend." says Virginia. She commented that the "economy has been bad just the last two to three years. Before that we were growing and doing well."
Virginia's favorite parts of being in retail are purchasing "pretty things and quality product. If a company doesn't send quality product - then I don't order from them again." She also enjoys meeting people. "I meet lots of people and learn a lot from them." says Virgina. She has been told by other reps that she's "picky" and she "knows what she wants." I guess that's what it takes to be in business for 29 years!!
